If you do have extra flab on your body, the first thing you will need to do is to get rid of it. This is possible by doing aerobic exercises. The extra layer of fat is stored energy. You will need to burn that off if you want others to notice a nice six pack of abs underneath it. Some great aerobic exercises include walking, running, jumping rope, swimming, basketball, softball, etc. There are a number of activities you can do to burn calories, but the main thing is to get your heart pumping. Once your hear gets pumping, it will get the blood flowing and retrieve that extra stored energy in your body.

The next thing is to start doing your ab exercises. When starting your ab workouts, you will be sore for the first week or so. To get your muscles trained, there should be a few days of rest after your first couple workouts. When a muscle is sore, the muscle cells are physically torn and will need time to heal. After there isn't any more pain, your workouts should continue.

There are a lot of different ab workouts, but not all can be done at home. Sure, the a gym membership will offer machines and even trainers to help with your ab exercises. That should not deter you from conducting your ab workouts at home. A few different ab workouts are listed below:

Crunches- While laying flat on your back, squeeze your abs together and bring your head up slightly. This will workout the top portion of your six pack.

Leg Lifts- Laying flat on your back with your palms down, bring your legs up perpendicular to the ground. This ab workout will exercise your lower portion of your six pack.

Bicycle Exercise- Laying flat on your back, bring the palms of your hands behind your head and interlock your fingers. Bring your knees up and touch your right elbow to your left knee. Repeat vice versa. These exercises will tone your oblique muscles.

Plank- This exercise will strain your entire midsection. While your stomach is facing the floor, try to balance on your elbows and tippy toes. It may seem easy at first, but your body will soon be struggling. This will also give your legs a burn.

Another workout that tones the abs are push ups. Sure, a push up will tone your chest and arms, but similar to the plank exercise the abs are working continuously during this workout.

If you are seeking that perfect set of abs, be sure to have the time and dedication to go with it. Having a set schedule will increase your muscle and strengthen your core quicker than doing your ab workouts once or twice a week. Stay persistent as you will soon see the definition of your six pack develop.
